Questionnaires Back!

We have recieved most questionnaires back (all that we think we wil get back), plus some from the website. Combined, they make 50 (We have removed 3 to make it a round 50)

We are going to start analysing them today, and will post the results tomorow! :D

Original Idea

The original idea came from each group members love for urban thriller films. We took inspiration from our own experiences, (We regularly play cards on a Tuesday night with our friends), and the uniqueness of other Media Studies two minute intros.

This caused a problem because we all had slightly different experiences but all were very good ideas that we could have used in our own film. Also seeing the uniqueness of other groups ideas we wanted something that wasn't like anyone else's and something that stood out from the rest.

We overcame this problem by all coming up with our own ideas and slowly shortlisting the ideas and removing any ideas we thought were either too hard or not good enough, keeping the better ideas and then choosing one out of the ones that were left.

We actually struggled with the idea for the script, coming up with a familiar yet unique storyline because our chosen idea had a lot of variables and different paths that we could take during the production of this film which made it hard to just have one straight story.

Quick Change of Layout

Just a quick update. I figured the default one, that was a horrible shade of blue, didn't quite suit our film. I took the liberty of uploading a new template, modifying it a little and creating a new temporary header in photoshop! :D

Opening Sequence Research

We took inspiration for our ideas for our film from films like snatch, we have the idea of useing a similar title sequence at the start of that film with it showing each character in a short maybe 2-3 second long shot and then it freezes on that specific character with a small zoom and edits along with the name or nickname of the character much like the images that have been added, we are to produce these edited freeze frames to attempt to show the characters skills/background/attitudes and also to show their role in this film. Production Company Name

The name of the production company came from wanting to have something different, so one of us randomly came up with Penguin Productions as he had recently been studying "March of the Penguins" in one of his subjects.

In this production company there are 3 of us Andrew Kerr, Daniel Stammers and John Jones. Andrew Kerr is currently studying AS IT, AS Business Studies, AS English and AS Media Studies. Daniel Stammers is studying AS English, AS Media Studies, AS Business Studies and AS IT. John Jones is studying AS Computing, AS Business Studies, AS IT and AS Media Studies.

Possible Filming Locations

Now that we have sorted out the basic story line for the introduction of our film, we have each deligated responsibilities for one and another to efficiently plan what we need to do before we even think about filming.

I assumed that we may need to begin to think of ideas about filming; the possible locations that each shot will be set. Considering that the three members of Penguin Productions are friends outside of college, we decided that we would be able to choose some unique & adventerous locations to shoot our footage, which will hopefully give the environment/ambiance that we are wanting!

Location #1

The property on this image belongs to a very close friend. Filming would be an excellent location at the back of the garden! There, we can create the shots where each individual is doing their own productive action, ready to do 'the job'

Location #2

At the bottom of the drive, leading the the garage, is an ideal location we can park a car (This is where the 4 characters will get out; a perfect opportunity to create some amazing in/out of car camera shots!) The actual path leading upto the garage should provide an excellent scene where the camera can dolly back, and shoot the 4 characters walk simutaneously (Which we hope can be slowed down a little bit when editing, along with appropriate music).

Towards the right of the image, is hopefully where the poker scene could take place. This garage is ideal and belongs to a good friend. Inside, it is warm and friendly, with authentic props already in place! (An old Tv, pleanty of space, table & chairs.. etc). This will be excellent for when we film the end of the scene; opening the garage door!
